I used different colored peppers and didn't measure the ingredients exactly and I thought information technology was neat! I used dark-brown rice, extra garlic, and cooked it for a total of one.v hours. Nifty season, I will be making again!!!
03/09/2014
This is a great recipe. I used ground turkey and italian turkey sausage instead of beef. The turkey is lower in fat which offsets the addtional cheese that I add.
04/22/2014
Made these last night for dinner changed a few things. I let the rice simmer in beef broth, sautƩed the onions, garlic added carrots and celery with Montreal spice.I also sautƩ the beef prior to stuffing the peppers. Mixed everything together adding grated cheese and breadcrumbs. The stuffing was amazing! Stuff peppers and bake in oven at 350 for 45 min. Likewise institute a zucchini in the fridge. Very delicious!!!! A must attempt very easy and quick

Although I made a few minor changes I must say that these are the best always!! I didn't have chunky lycopersicon esculentum sauce so just used canned chopped tomatoes and added tomato sauce to get the correct amount. I used shredded pepper jack instead of parmesean. Biggest modify was to apply my Dutch oven instead of wasting parchment newspaper and foil. Still followed the temperature and time and they came out perfect! Thank you!!

Our favorite stuffed pepper recipe! Nosotros only needed three medium sized peppers for our family, so I adjusted to ane lb. of beef and 1 cup of rice. Still only used one-half the stuffing mix. I made 4 large meat balls with the remaining, boiled them in beefiness goop, then drained and put in the fridge. I also saved remaining pan drippings. Two days later, I skimmed fatty off the pan drippings, poured it over the meatballs, and heated in covered dish in the oven. Served on egg noodles (tossed with butter & basil after cooking). Yummy over again. Volition add a little pork sausage next time, as suggested.
02/06/2014
The whole family really enjoyed this ane.add a few alterations though. I did non put the tops dorsum on and replaced one lb of the hamburger with a lb of hot breakfast sausage. I as well put mozzarella and parmesan cheese in the stuffing mix. Then I sprinkled pepperjack cheese on top during the terminal 10 min in the oven.

Update: I have fabricated this soooo many times now. My family loves it, and I by and large make this, due to the color variations, for Christmas Eve every year. I wish I could find a manner to thicken the sauce, just it's just the way it goes; expect a brothier sauce with some fatty from the beef. Notwithstanding, this my go-to and but stuffed pepper recipe. Thanks over again, years later. / Had leftover jasmine rice and have been wanting to make blimp peppers for a while. I never used a recipe before for stuffed peppers, but this is going in the book. I love everything about it. I scaled to 4 servings, and for the "mesomorphic tomato plant sauce", combined 8oz. tin can of tomato plant sauce and a 15 oz. tin of tuckered, diced tomatoes. Besides used footing sirloin, and red peppers. Followed the directions. Easy to put together and baked it for xc minutes. All I can say is delicious!!! Have passed on the recipe to my siblings before even finishing my dinner. THANKS!

It may just be a difference in preference, only these weren't our favorite stuffed bell peppers. Stuffing with raw meat and baking yielded drier meat that was sort of caked together, rather than the crumbly, saucy peppers that we were hoping for. Flavor was pretty good, although I might use i/2 of the garlic this recipe calls for if I were to get in over again.
11/03/2014
I made this today for dejeuner and it was a BIG hit. I actually assembled it yesterday afternoon and refrigerated it overnight. I made information technology every bit written except for slightly less salt. It was excellent! In the past I have made these where yous blanch the peppers beginning and brown the ground beef. I thought this was then much easier, even though information technology does have longer in the oven. The garlic and parmesan cheese gave the dish a wonderful flavor. I'one thousand looking forward to making with half sausage, half ground beef next time. The only thing was that I had to cook information technology longer than the recipe states. My peppers were large and I accept a gas oven which always tends to take longer. I even bumped the temperature upwards a bit for the first half hour, simply it notwithstanding took just shy of two hours. Thanks for the recipe!
02/11/2014
This is undoubtedly the best pepper recipe I've ever eaten. I added a little Italian sausage to the burger and also some herbes de provence to both the sauce and the meat. Wonderful!
01/23/2015
I brand stuffed bell peppers all the time, but I have never thought to flatten the bottoms or poke holes so the juiced drain. And so smart! I am too going to try putting the peppers on a raised cooking sheet then the peppers don't swim in juice the whole time. I highly recommend putting aluminum foil down also to help with cleanup. These tasty buggers make a mess.
xi/18/2014
OMG. Absolutely loved this recipe. Best stuffed pepper's I've ever treated my rima oris to. Adjacent fourth dimension, I've going to try and layer the meat/rice mixture with either Ricotta or Cottage cheese(whichever I have, volition bleed cottage cheese). This recipe really is amazing, though it did take a bit longer than I imagined to do the prep work. Well worth it though. I used footing turkey to brand mine.
04/22/2014
This is so good!!!!! I used Hot Italian Turkey Sausage (remove the castings) instead of footing beef, and used chicken broth instead of beef goop. Admittedly fabled!!!!!
07/24/2014
This was delicious! I used meatloaf mix (pork, beef, veal) instead of ground beef and regular not chunky tomato sauce. I also found that we liked information technology much better with ruby, yellow, orangish peppers vs. the green!
11/fifteen/2016
I mostly used this recipe equally a guide and then, as I usually practice, doctored it up accordingly. Instead of hamburger, I used Italian sausage. I precooked everything so bake fourth dimension was quicker. I utilize marinara, chop up the tops and add together them to the mix and, because the mix is already hot, bake time is just most 45 min.
01/05/2016
Swell bones recipe! I made information technology acc to Chef john's instructions and they came out perfectly! I used 1lb ground beef and 1/2lb sweet Italian sausage. To the meat I added extra garlic, shredded carrots, herbs de provence, and a little sauteed onion forth with Chef John'southward ingredients. I finished off some jarred spaghetti sauce and also used crushed tomatoes. As suggested by another reviewer, I cooked brownish rice in the beef stock with a bay leaf and a clove of garlic. When adding the meat mixture to the peppers, I added a piffling of the tomato sauce half way, and then more than meat, then topped with more sauce and the lids. I will line the baking sheet with foil next fourth dimension. My unabridged family unit loved it! Thanks, Chef John!!
11/fourteen/2015
I have to confess, I don't similar peppers! But, I ate two of these! I used beefiness and venison, brownish rice and a can of fire roasted tomatoes and a small-scale can of tomato plant sauce and dried parsley since I didn't have fresh. Otherwise I tried to follow the recipe pretty exactly. It was very practiced and was done in an hour and a half. I will be making this again, only not in a 9x13 pan...it's just too big. I'm going to apply a taller goulash dish side by side fourth dimension. I had well-nigh a cup and a half of meat mixture left over and made six lilliputian meatloafs in a muffin pan with that. It's very, very good!
09/08/2016
really great recipe. I used footing sirloin and italian sausage. I was out of worcestchire sauce and then i used teriyaki sauce in its place. I also used two bags of Steam Fresh Birdseye Southwestern style rice (microwaveable) which saved some time. I used two bags to cut down on the meat and plus we love rice. This was a great recipe that i topped off with a slice of provolone under the broiler for a few minutes ( to brown). This was easier to prepare than my usual recipe.
08/08/2019
This recipe reminded me so much of my momma'south stuffed bell peppers when I was growing up! I love how flavorful Chef John fabricated it with the added red flakes! Perfect! I did notice that the video says one/2 cup of beefiness goop but the recipe says 1 cup. I think i/two cup should be used in order to have a little thicker sauce! Honestly, this is a must try recipe considering information technology is spot on! Dearest this and thanks Chef John!!
03/31/2016
This is a very elementary all in one meal to fix and easy cleanup. The sauce, although quite bones, had a nice flavor and went well with the peppers. The filling was practically a meatball in consistency after baking which I liked, only my wife said she would prefer more rice and less meat. I wanted to follow as written so didn't read others' tips and overall this makes a nice dinner, especially with hot sauce. Next time I will likely add some additional seasoning and possible use xanthous rice to enhance things a bit. Go on helpin me expect skilful Chef John!
09/x/2016
Made this last dark and it was succulent! I did use dark-green peppers instead of cherry and I switched out the rice and used Farro in its place. Side by side time I'll besides add together more onion since we all dear the taste.. Also, since I went a trivial over on the quantity of meat, I rolled the remaining meat mixture into tiny meatballs and put them in the sauce in betwixt the stuffed peppers.
09/27/2015
Came out great, fifty-fifty my two year old was eating the peppers! I merely used a pound of ground turkey, and I added all the reserve tomato sauce to the meat mixture. Subsequently stuffing, I used the sauce from the pan to garnish the tops. And I used curly parsley, it was amazing. I did follow the recommendation to put a cookie sheet under the dish. I think this helped keep them moist, and the bells slightly crisp. I used orange bells.
04/01/2015
Had lots of left over rice then added it to browned upwardly ground beef, onion, jalapeno and our seasoning preferences. I cut our peppers lengthwise ( personal) and broiled with some seasoned diced tomato, near 45 min. Very overnice, easy dish. Would love to try with Italian sausage.
02/xv/2016
I microwaved the peppers for nearly vii to x min, in order to soften them, also precooked the sauce on stove. I was running late on time, yes I'll melt this again.
04/27/2019
I always loved my mom'south stuffed peppers growing up which was basically meatloaf, blimp in raw dark-green peppers. When I got older and looked up the recipe, I saw it had rice, the meat was sauteed and peppers blanched beginning. I just went back to my Mom'southward way. Simply this recipe is my Mom's on steroids. I added 1 egg and a little breadstuff crumbs to the meat mixture and used Italian diced tomatoes forth with the lycopersicon esculentum sauce. It was succulent! The sauce is so practiced; helps go on everything moist. He's right, the cookie sheet makes it take longer but establish it cooked evenly. I similar the suggested fashion to cut the peppers and using the lid. You can get alot more meat in there. I made 4 and heaped them high like an ice cream cone. This will now be my go to recipe.
07/27/2016
I used red bell peppers, Italian sausage instead of ground beef and quinoa in stead of rice (diabetic household) and used very little table salt.. Used mozerella cheese cause that's what Ihad on hand. I made 3 for me and three for my husband who likes a more spicy flavor. In his I added Mrs. Nuance Extra Spicy Seasoning and a pinch of habanero. They were delicious and we will definitely make them again. My hubby who is a Picky Eater and was quite hesitant nearly trying this, loved his. They re-warm upwardly very well in the microwave.
08/ten/2014
First time having stuffed peppers. Used this recipe. Turned out awesome. I loved the heat from pepper flakes. Used Rinaldi spag sauce instead of plain tomato plant sauce. Will definitely brand again.
08/26/2016
The rice was mush because information technology was already cooked, the bell peppers were well-nigh raw.
05/05/2014
Yum! Slap-up second phase nutrient for baby!
03/22/2015
I made this recipe and substituted turkey instead of beef and information technology was a major hit! Even my meat and murphy married man tried some of the bell pepper. That says a ton!
08/01/2014
Very good, swell use of left over rice with not much burger. Economical and yummy!
07/12/2016
Was in a compression for time, so wanted to cook everything first. Here were my changes: -Just sliced the tops off 5 peppers (no other messing with them), and roasted them fifteen min @ 425 past themselves right on the oven rack (needed double this or increased heat) -Cooked the 1/two finely cut onion and tbsp garlic in a pan, added one-half to the sauce at the bottom of the baking dish, left half in the pan. -Added sweet italian flavored ground chicken to the pan, added ~ 1T of it. seasoning and cooked until done. I followed the rest of the recipe & these turned out fabulously. Side by side fourth dimension I'll use a petty more sauce in the meat mixture, which is how my mom used to make them. My married man and I both said "keep!" to this recipe. I'll make these again!
05/thirteen/2015
Made with 1/2 basis beefiness and ane/2 sugariness Italian sausage. Stuffed in dark-green peppers. Delicious - Thanks Chef John
02/26/2017
Great dish, but takes much longer to melt. Nosotros now melt the ground beef about 50% prior to placing in peppers, as you still need plenty time to soften the peppers.
eleven/04/2016
I precooked the meat. That felt safer. I honey the Italian flair. Next fourth dimension I will do half Italian sausage. I likewise added shredded cheese to the top after the spoons full of lycopersicon esculentum sauce. I retrieve it needs more sauce in the peppers.
03/23/2020
I make it a different way and less fourth dimension consuming. I accept out the cadre and all the seeds...then I boil the bong peppers 10 min ...while boiling I brown the ground beefiness onions with tomatoes sauce of your liking and every bit well seasonings of your liking....I similar the knorrs rice vii minutes then I mix in with the ground beef...I then set bell peppers on a cookie canvass I put shredded Mexican cheese on bottom then fill with stuffing and sprinkle and repeat with Mexican cheese on tiptop put in oven for 350 degrees or fill cheese is melted....normally just takes well-nigh almost 5 to 7 minutes and voila done!!! My fiance...picky kids and friends difficult workers love this recipe.never failed...please relish
01/26/2016
I used 1 cup mozzeralla and i/2 parmesan. I also substituted the parsley for oregano, thyme, and basil. I used chicken broth instead of beef broth because...well...oops. I added in spinach and mushrooms. I used Prego three cheese love apple sauce.
08/04/2015
Loved this recipe! Brought back memories of Mom making stuffed peppers when we had an abundance of bell peppers in the garden. I fabricated this recipe gluten-free and dairy free considering of food allergies in the family. Wonderful and easy to make. Next fourth dimension I make rice, I will make plenty extra to have a head commencement on this recipe.
08/21/2016

I used this equally the base and added some cumin. My family loved it!
01/23/2019
I'm in the process of making this at present but in the video y'all say to use i/2 a cup of broth but the recipe says 1 cup. Y'all said put 2 1/2 cups of love apple sauce in the pan merely then we need more to put on summit of the peppers and the aforementioned with the parsley. I'm just a little confused but hopefully it turns out good...
03/08/2019
I sprinkled mozzarella cheese over each i , yummy!!!!!!!!! These are perfect stuffed bong peppers!!!
03/19/2017
Love this recipe. Past far the BEST blimp peppers I've ever eaten...The whole family agrees!
10/x/2019
Really easy, and actually yummy.
06/22/2020
I thought the item to be delicious. I also thought them to be of German origin. I went Pheasant hunting in Western Kansas and spent evenings and ate our meals in a friends parents farmhouse. WAS led to believe they are of GERMAN origin? The friend is Jerry Younger from the Far-Mar-Co Visitor. The Western Kansas community is Hays Kansas on I-70!
02/17/2020
I've made this keeping to the exact ingredients and information technology'due south a winner. Still, tonight I fabricated it over again merely noticed I didn't have enough ground beef and so, I took some cooked pork chorizo I had in the freezer to make upward for the ground beefiness. It was five stars before...merely with the chorizo information technology's six stars.
12/19/2019
This blimp bell pepper recipe was unproblematic to set up and had a savory flavor. This is a meal that I will exist making once again!

01/14/2019
I used ground tofu and added mushrooms! Succulent!
xi/27/2018

08/29/2019
My married man wants me to kick up the heat a tiny bit on the next batch, only I loved it. Fabricated a little extra meat mixture and turned them into absolutely delicious meatballs, by the way.
eleven/27/2019
I would definitely make this again and again. Moist and flavorful. Thank you for a groovy recipe.
03/31/2020
I only made information technology for 2 and information technology yet was astonishing!!! Only enough spice to make information technology
06/13/2016
This is best recipe I've see. Husband talked me into making for him at present I'thou a fan too!
08/22/2018
It was delicious. The only alter I fabricated was that I stuffed hatch peppers instead of bell peppers. They're in season for such a short time that this was a great fashion of enjoying this excellent effeminateness.
04/21/2021
This is a recipe to hang onto! And so I took the advice of another commenter and I boiled the bell peppers while I browned the meat. I let my oven preheat at 375 and cooked one pound of burger and a half pound of turkey sausage with olive oil, garlic, a tin can of mushrooms ,and part of a couple greenish onion. While I let the grease bleed off to the same pot I added a can of diced tomatoes, a can of love apple sauce, garlic from a jar, and the residuum of the green onions. I seasoned with stale tyme, parsley, chili flakes, crushed bay leaves, and pepper. I added the meat back to the sauce along with my jasmine rice (rice cooker is a life saver). As you tin can encounter I used a Dutch oven (and posted iii times because I didn't know what I was doing) there was no demand for me to cut the bottoms considering they all fit in the bottom nicely and could've fit a seventh. I used cooking spray on the bottom then assembled, mozzarella, filling, mozzarella, elevation of peppers. There was filling left over I just piled it into the middle and covered it with cheese besides. Afterwards I let the whole thing melt for x minutes I broiled the top then the cheese got dark-brown. So much fun to make and very very tasty.
01/31/2019
This recipe comes out great everytime. I think the beef broth mixed with the tomato sauce in the pan is the primal!
10/13/2017
Keen recipe I just added fresh roasted corn.
10/xv/2019

10/25/2015
I dearest this recipe! I've fabricated this multiple times, the only changes I made are that I used ground turkey instead of ground beef and that I use extra sauce and cheese based on my personal gustation. Delish!

01/04/2018

Your family will love this recipe, I oasis't strayed from the the technique or the basic ingredients also much and they always come out delicious.
03/22/2015
My wife is making me set up this for her once again tonight. Need I say more?
07/24/2016
Double batch for lunches and freezing. Very good but second batch turned out amend. Additional parsmesan and a little mozzarella besides as diced tomatoes instead of lycopersicon esculentum sauce. My new favorite blimp pepper recipe. As well added quite a bit more garlic. Personal taste. First-class. Much easier than par-boiling peppers like my former recipe called for. The parsley was a dissimilar twist too.
05/01/2016
I used red peppers, wild rice, i tin Italian style diced tomatoes &one tin Italian tomato paste (instead of the chunky tomato paste), and vegan meat, delicious!
03/14/2017
I made this last dark for dinner. Husband and I really enjoyed it, nosotros switched the serving size downwardly to four so there would be leftovers to take to lunch. Really glad we did that. Only affair I would change is the amount of sauce, I would prefer in that location to be more sauce and thicker.
01/ten/2017
I think this is one of the all-time Beef and Rice Stuffed Pepper recipes I've ever made. The beef is very flavorful and the sauce is succulent. I used 1 pound ground beef and i pound balmy pork sausage. I used both sweet crimson and greenish peppers that were quite large.
08/09/2017
My get-to recipe for stuffed peppers! I used to make them a sure mode for ten years, but this is the way I make them from now on. I absolutely honey the onion and tomato sauce these peppers cook in. Information technology is so good spooned over the peppers, and a lot of times I take leftover sauce that I tin can re-use in other recipes, or enjoy in a bloody mary. This is a classic, simple, comforting dish that everyone will love. I tin't look for Autumn/Winter to roll in and so I tin kickoff using my oven again!!
04/26/2018
But fabricated it for dinner this night. Delicious ??!!!!! Only thing that I did different was that U used tomato sauce with cheese already in it. It was dollop good ??. May accept it again tomorrow. My husband really liked it too and said we will accept it alot. Thank for sharing it.
05/29/2020
Succulent! I made this tonight, and my married man and I loved it! It will definitely be a staple in our kitchen. The simply change I made was to the beefiness mixture. I added a garlic jalapeƱo seasoning. (My husband put cayenne pepper subsequently cooking, but he does that to everything.)
08/14/2016
I grew a lot of bell peppers and take been searching for a recipe and came across this 1. Information technology reminds me of my grandmothers so thought I would attempt information technology. :) I changed a few things, I had just fabricated bootleg salsa (pico) so I used this forth with one loving cup of canned love apple sauce. I did not use the parsley but had cilantro in the salsa. Really liked this and will exercise it again.
03/07/2020
My daughter and friend loved it! Absolutely succulent!
08/24/2020
I take made this then many times over the years, for guests and merely for us. I e'er use some course of marinara, either homemade or if I am lazy, jarred. Yesterday I used a jar of Mid's Marinara. I always slice a whole sweet onion and use ruby and yellowish peppers. I had bought a new clamper of parm but ended upwardly using the remnants of some leftover parm, cheddar, and a fiddling cojack from the fridge that nosotros had shredded over the past week for other meals and it was nifty. I tin't imagine ever going back to the erstwhile manner of making stuffed peppers. I love Chef John.
04/26/2019
I mixed 1 lb ground sirloin and 1/2 lb pork sausage, plus all the other ingredients and made three stuffed peppers. They were delicious. Yum. I'll practise this again with out a doubt.
12/06/2019
I absolutely Honey this recipe. I've information technology several times, even though I find the pepper prep somewhat time-consuming.
06/11/2016
Followed recipe for the most office but used Cambells Tomato Soup for my sauce..Yum
09/thirty/2015
Even my kids love these peppers! I used basis chicken, instead of beef. I used some dried parsley instead of fresh. Volition do less salt next time.
03/21/2019
Used 1/ii lb italian sausage and 1 lb footing beef. The flavor was fantastic!
05/10/2016
I fabricated this for dinner this evening and it is an excellent recipe-- very close to my mom'southward! I made it with red peppers because we're not fond of green. I didn't change the recipe at all. I already got a request to make this again!
09/12/2018
My hubby LOVES IT, I did make a few changes , though at the moment nothing is coming to my mind. I will definitely be making this again.
03/02/2015
Succulent!!! My toddlers ate it and my husband even ate the leftovers.
04/20/2019
I seasoned the meat to gustatory modality but overall corking recipe! Likewise, I used different colored peppers
x/31/2016
Made information technology substantially past the given recipe but took a few shortcuts: used stale onionbits in the sauce and the aforementioned lycopersicon esculentum sauce in the meat as in the pan- not a mesomorphic one. Of course I had to sprinkle more grated cheese on elevation towards the end. Everyone loved it from the ane yr former to the 70 year sometime! Will be making this once more.
08/07/2017
This will definitely be a recipe nosotros use ofttimes. Made it exactly equally directed with one pocket-sized Edition mozzarella. I'm sure would have been just as good without it. Keen RECIPE!!! We have a big family then I doubled up on recipe with leftover meat made meatballs was splendid no leftovers.
02/02/2022
I added Italian sausage, minced garlic, beef base of operations and substituted tomato paste for tomato sauce in my mix. I also added onion soup mix and cut the salt intake to 1/2 tsp. And used spaghetti sauce for my pan base. It was so good!
09/09/2021
Delicious! I used ground turkey and veggie bouillon instead of beef broth. The pan sauce with crushed cherry-red peppers is spicy, so I wiped it off the outside of the bong pepper earlier giving it to my 1-twelvemonth-sometime. She loved it!
10/27/2020
Great blimp peppers I changed to red peppers considering I do not like light-green
ten/02/2020
Delicious
ten/29/2017
This was a skillful recipe only I didn't have the right stuff....I had Infinitesimal Brown Rice that I didn't melt...I didn't brown the ground chuck, I cut the onions very modest and didn't soften them....cooked the dish hr covered and a half hour uncovered....I also added a tin can of Italian tomatoes 1/2 in making meat and rice stuffing and one-half with the love apple sauce, I but had a 8 ounce can.information technology turned out great and was moist and rice was done very flavorful...Thanks, Happy Cooking!
04/02/2019
I made this as written and it was flavorful. My wife loved it.
05/15/2019
I used ground turkey meat Also I used fire roasted tomato's for the pan every bit we like a little spice in our life!
01/19/2020
Outset time making blimp bell peppers I wish I tin upload my film it was pretty expert I call back if I would have allow the bell peppers melt a little bit more longer it wouldn't be and then hard but yet soft and some places the ingredient was definitely like shooting fish in a barrel to make with the hamburger seasoning and melt rice and onions I'll definitely attempt it a unlike way but overall it was okay.
12/09/2016
Only made this, very good. Keeper recipe, will make again. I did every bit another person did, used ane can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. Did broil for 2 hours though. I used red and orange peppers, simply similar the season of those peppers better.
02/21/2020
Information technology was very good. I adjusted a few things just it was a bang-up guide
05/08/2020
The husband and I loved it. I used ground pork and ground turkey and just followed the recipe. Making it tonight for the 2d fourth dimension.
04/10/2017
I followed all the instructions merely I felt the peppers were not as juicy as I expected them to be, the meat was more than of a hard ball in the heart. The gustatory modality of the filling was good. I will effort them once more simply this time i think i will cook the beef separately.
